Petition Liverpool City Council to support the 2026 Ireland Park Masterplan
The issue
For over five decades, Liverpool Rangers Soccer Club has been at the heart of community life at Ireland Park, dedicating countless hours to fostering camaraderie and sportsmanship. Our shared dream was to create a first-class facility that would benefit not just our club, but the entire community. After three extensive consultations with Liverpool City Council, we crafted the 2026 Ireland Park Masterplan. This plan, developed with local needs in mind, promises not only to maintain the current playing field status but to enrich the community with expanded features.
Unlike the 2024 Masterplan, the 2026 version includes more parking spaces, an exterior walking track, an outdoor gym, an off-leash dog park, a children's playground, and improved amenities. These additions are vital to addressing the issues currently facing park users. In a rapidly growing area like Liverpool, where urban green spaces are shrinking, these provisions ensure that Ireland Park remains a welcoming and inclusive environment for families, fitness enthusiasts, pet owners, and everyone in between.
The decision by Liverpool City Council to endorse the 2024 Masterplan overlooks the input and efforts of community stakeholders. It undermines the collaborative spirit we've built over years of engagement. By reversing this decision, the Council can demonstrate its commitment to a Masterplan that reflects the wishes and needs of local constituents.
Ireland Park is more than just a field; it’s a part of our heritage, a place where children take their first steps on the grass, where lifelong friendships are forged over teamwork and shared goals, and where community members from all walks of life find common ground.

We call upon Liverpool City Council to reverse their support of the 2024 Ireland Park Masterplan and instead back the comprehensive and community-oriented 2026 plan that hundreds have collaboratively developed and supported.
