We, the undersigned tenants of M’akola Housing, are writing to express our support for Genie, the dog who has been visiting Shayla Madrone at S101 – 2055 Drennan Street, Sooke.

We understand that M’akola has rules concerning pets and animals on the property. We are asking M’akola to consider allowing Genie to remain on the property, subject to reasonable conditions that protect the comfort, safety, and enjoyment of all residents.

We believe Genie can be a positive presence in our community. We would support reasonable requirements such as:

Genie being properly registered with M’akola if required;
Genie being kept under control and on a leash in common areas;
Immediate cleanup of any dog waste;
Respect for other tenants who may be uncomfortable around dogs;
Preventing excessive barking or other disturbances; and
Responsibility for any damage caused by the dog.
Our signatures below indicate that we support M’akola working with Shayla to find a reasonable solution that would allow Genie to be on the property, rather than simply prohibiting the dog.

We respectfully ask M’akola Housing Society to consider the wishes of the residents who live here and to work with Shayla toward an arrangement that accommodates Genie while respecting the needs and rights of other tenants.
