Subject: Urgent Request for Traffic Calming Measures on Dunkirk, Riverside and Tobruk Roads in Panmure

We, the undersigned residents of Panmure and concerned community members, are writing to urgently request the implementation of traffic calming measures, on Dunkirk, Riverside and Tobruk Road. These roads have increasingly become sites of reckless driving, racing, and speeding, posing a serious risk to pedestrians, cyclists, and local residents.

Background:

 • The residential nature of Dunkirk, Riverside and Tobruk Roads makes them particularly dangerous for high-speed driving. Families with young children live in this area, and there are frequent pedestrians and cyclists, adding to the need for enhanced safety measures.

 • There was recently a serious crash in this area, resulting in three people being hospitalized. This incident highlights the urgent need for action before more serious injuries, or even fatalities, occur.

 • Despite previous requests for traffic calming measures, Auckland Transport has stated that they are prioritising areas with a high crash history. However, we strongly believe that proactive measures here would prevent further incidents and improve safety for the entire community.

Our Request:

We are requesting Auckland Transport and Auckland Council to:

 1. Reassess the safety risks on Dunkirk, Riverside and Tobruk Roads.

 2. Consider traffic-calming measures that will effectively reduce speeding, noise and deter dangerous driving.

 3. Work with local residents to create a safer environment that prioritises the wellbeing of our community.

This petition is submitted on behalf of the residents and concerned individuals in the Panmure area who want to prevent further accidents and ensure our neighborhood is a safe place for all.
