The Issue

We, the undersigned, respectfully call upon Members of Congress, the Department of Homeland Security, and all relevant authorities to urgently review and support the release of Mr. Abraham Seydou Caramoko, a long-time Texas resident, community patriarch, and dedicated servant of the North Texas African Muslim community.

Mr. Caramoko has lived in Texas for nearly 30 years, has no criminal record, and has dedicated his life to serving others. He currently serves as President of the Muslim Association of Texas and holds multiple leadership roles within the Mandingo Association of Texas (MATEX Dallas) — including Financial Secretary, Senior Advisor to the President, and member of the Elder Committee. Beyond these roles, he is a founding member of several pillars of the African diaspora community in Texas, including the Ivorian Community of Texas, the Liberian Mandingo Community, and the Ivorian Muslims Community. Across every organization he has touched, he has built and sustained networks that have uplifted countless families across North Texas. He is not just a leader; he is a father figure to an entire community.

His sudden detention has caused deep emotional and social disruption:

Multiple community organizations have lost a founding member, key leader, advisor, and trusted elder
His wife has been left alone to carry an overwhelming burden
His two daughters, both U.S. citizens, are at a critical juncture in their education, with one holding a Master's degree and the other currently pursuing hers
Mr. Caramoko is known for showing up for others in times of need. Today, we ask that our leaders show up for him.

We respectfully urge our elected officials and the relevant authorities to:

Order an immediate and compassionate review of his case
Consider release or alternative supervision, such as bond or parole
Take action that reflects the American values of family unity, justice, and community
Nearly 30 years of service. Zero criminal history. One community that refuses to stay silent.

Sign this petition to stand with a father, a leader, and a pillar of our community.
