Mark your calendars to attend the AT&T Site Transportation Study Meeting held by Fairfax County Leaders on November 12 at 7:00 pm at the Oakton High School Cafeteria!
While our community may have varying ideas of what type and amount of density is appropriate for the AT&T site; most Oakton citizens believe a FAR of 1.0 is too much for our road infrastructure and will cause traffic gridlock and pedestrian safety concerns.
Wear a red shirt on November 12th to tell our Fairfax County Officials that an increase from .40 FAR to the developer EYA’s proposed 1.0 FAR is inappropriate for Oakton. Too much Density!
Attendance at this meeting is important! It is critical to demonstrate to the County that the community does not support this increase of density. Supv. Palchik will be attending this meeting!
Excerpts from the Developer’s Transportation Study show:
Proposed development will bring 12,877 more cars on Chainbridge/Jermantown/White Granite Roads on a Saturday. (page 70)
Proposed development will bring 7380 more cars traveling on Chainbridge/Jermantown/ White Granite Roads on Weekdays. (page 70)
73% of increased weekend traffic will be due to the proposed 120,000 sq ft of commercial retail. (page 70)
One mile radius of map indicates that even after AT&T redevelopment, most of the community will not be able to walk to the new retail site due to unsafe pedestrian conditions along Chainbridge/Blake Lane. (page 30)
Currently local intersections have failing grades on VDOT measurement of levels of service. (page 52)
Currently five intersections have queue lines that exceed normal capacity during rush hour. (Page 55)
Let Fairfax County see your red shirt and hear your voice!
