Petition for SEIU-Disney worksite to create accessible Grievance Page Database for Members
Petition for SEIU-Disney worksite to create accessible Grievance Page Database for Members
The Issue
This is a petition to request that SEIU create an accessible online page database or forum with the ability to confirm whether or not grievances have been filed while still respecting all aspects of member confidentiality. It is a very simple request created at the suggestion of members who feel it will help for the following reasons:
- It can be difficult to get into contact with the organizer or confirm whether or not a grievance has been submitted or not given the large number of members assigned to the DL/DCA worksites
- Departments often do not know if grievances have been filed already or not regarding key topics that might overlap (scheduling, defective equipment, safety concerns, etc.)
- There are growing concerns that the sitting SEIU CA President David Huerta may be facing criminal charges/removal which could further complicate responses as situations in California unfold
- There are growing concerns of unwanted discussions for sometime regarding raising dues when members already feel there is a Disney worksite surplus that can be utilized to help the Disney members instead
- There are growing social media pages and podcasts being regularly aired lately with numerous allegations of company/labor staff collusion on topics that are further concerning members during the grievance process
Because of some of the above concerns, it is felt that simply having an accessible listing or forum for members that also incorporates standard confidentiality requirements regarding grievance status at higher levels like step 3 will allow for more members to confirm what is going on with their own cases and have regular updates more rapidly. Particularly regarding filing status and update status. The request would also be that some grievances filed in more of a class action capacity involving entire departments would be able to at least have a basic description so that they are aware they are pending or active for topics such as scheduling, defective equipment, etc.
