Hi All - First off, thank you for all your support! This petition now has over 400 signers.
As promised, here is the voter guide for Piedmont City Council and School Board based on direct outreach to candidates about Linda Ave traffic safety measures. Please read and vote!
A few important notes:
- This is intended as a voter guide and NOT a substitute for engaging with elected city council and committees after the election - we fully plan on engaging, but right now we are trying to inform voters on candidate's positions
- These proposed measures are a starting point - I explained that I do not expect candidates to support everything listed in the petition
- I used ChatGPT to maintain objectivity - I used ChatGPT to summarize and score each candidate's response.
- Candidate non-responses: A non-response can be difficult to interpret. I do not believe they were due to missed communication as I went through official emails provided in campaign material. I would only interpret a non-responses as being indicative of future unwillingness to engage with constituents on public safety issues
- The Brown Act and what it means - I've included context on the Brown Act (ChatGPT summary of it) in the guide because it came up in conversation with existing councilwoman Conna McCarthy who is up for re-election. In short, my interpretation is that the Brown Act does not prohibit any discussions on Linda Avenue safety in the manner in which I reached out.
Let me know if you have any questions and please continue sharing this petition and voter guide.
Best
Yousuf
