To: Toledo Public Schools Board of Education, Superintendent, Mayor of Toledo, and Ohio State Representatives We, the parents, guardians, and community members of Toledo, Ohio, believe that the safety of our children in schools must be the highest priority. Tragically, school shootings across our nation have demonstrated the urgent need for stronger protective measures. In the event of an armed threat, seconds matter. Teachers and students need a safe, secure location to seek immediate refuge until first responders arrive. We are calling on Toledo Public Schools (TPS) to take action by implementing bulletproof safe rooms in every school building. We, the undersigned, respectfully petition the TPS Board of Education, local leaders, and state representatives to immediately begin planning, funding, and installing bulletproof safe rooms in all Toledo Public Schools.
