In the coming weeks, Riverside County Supervisor Jose Medina will introduce legislation to create oversight for the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
This is our opportunity to demand meaningful reform for the Sheriff's Department. We ask that you contact the Riverside County Board of Supervisors and urge them to support effective oversight of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

For the past several years, Riverside County residents have witnessed incredibly high rates of in-custody deaths, dangerous and illegal deputy misconduct, the department's support for aggressive immigration policies, and lawsuit settlements in the tens of millions of taxpayer dollars.
With over 4,000 employees and a budget of over $1 billion, Riverside County must invest in a system of oversight to restore transparency, accountability, and trust in its Sheriff's Department.
Given the entrenched power of the Sheriff's Department and its well-funded deputies' union, the Board of Supervisors will not act unless we, the people, demand it.
The Riverside Sheriff Accountability Coalition encourages you to learn more and contact your county supervisor and ask them to support Supervisor Medina's efforts to create an effective Riverside County Sheriff oversight process.
