Petition for Resignation

We, the undersigned residents of Logansport, Indiana, hereby call and demand for the resignation of Chris Martin in his capacity as mayor of Logansport. Among the reasons cited:

Casting Logansport in a national negative light for his handling of immigrants coming to Logansport from Haiti, and his failure to provide leadership in orienting immigrants to Logansport although many local churches and the schools have.
His inability to comprehend that the population has not increased 30 percent simply because Logansport Memorial Hospital has noted an increase in some areas of services consumed because of the closure of hospital services in surrounding communities.
His inability to provide immediate help to locally-owned restaurants which felt the brunt of the pandemic and are now closed (Amelio’s, Mr. Happy Burger, Lin’s) while chain restaurants with no local ties open businesses in Logansport.
His inability to attract any new industry to the Cass/Logan Industrial Park in nearly five years as mayor.
The city’s public safety rating has fallen from one of the state’s top 10 safest cities when he took office as graded by the independent, non-partisan group SafeWise finds that Logansport has not been among the top 50 during his time in office.
His housing program has produced only two new structures in five years, 28 behind what the previous administration accomplished in four.
His decision to suspend comments on the city’s Facebook page.
His decision to terminate the transparency portal funded through Horizon Bank.
His public rebuke from the Logansport City Council in June that he was confronted with in July with no response to taxpayers that he would endeavor to improve his job performance.
His public conduct and his frequent absences from his office that have prompted the council to discuss setting minimum requirements for his daily work schedule.

To this end, we ask that the city council appoint a professional, non-partisan city manager similar to those appointed in Fishers and Munster, Indiana, to provide more stable, orderly and proactive government for the community.
