Petition updatePetition for ResignationMartin's Financial Situation Begging Tough Questions; 38 Dozen Now Agree He Should Resign

Logansport Mayor Chris Martin's pending court hearings on unpaid debts are raising discussions that no other Indiana mayor is facing, and oddly it keeps happening to Martin.

Kay Jewelers and Target have been among the creditors seeking legal action against Martin in courts in own county, and that doesn't include a far greater debt -- more than $40,000 Martin is alleged to owe the  owner of the  Super 8 Motel.

Why are these matters becoming public? Is Martin in danger, or in the process, of filing for personal bankruptcy? Wouldn't that negatively affect, potentially, the city's bond rating for major projects? Martin is statutorily responsible for producing the annual city budget of more than $10 million. If he can't manage his own finances, can he manage the city's? More to the point, should he be managing the city if he is frequently absent from the City Building and is in the middle of a personal financial crisis?

Now, more than 38 dozen Logansport voters say the answer is no; Martin should resign and be replaced by a non-partisan city manager.

Please join your neighbors, co-workers and friends -- as well as business owners -- who are concerned for the future of our community and how much more than two years remaining on Martin's term will hurt Logansport,  even if it helps him financially. Please sign and share the petition and send a message to those who are thinking about investing in Logansport that its people want better and expect more from their leadership.

Thank you for caring.
