Social media in Logansport is ablaze with the news that Logansport residents and their fellow Cass County taxpayers are second only to Randolph County in the amount of local income taxes they pay.

That's on top of state and federal income taxes.

Since Chris Martin has been mayor in 2020, no knew corporations have located in Logansport -- and in particular, the Cass/Logan In dustrial Park. Incomes lag behind the state average and to compensate for the lack of progress, county officials have had to raise revenue through more taxes. Growth has not kept up with the need to keep the community staffed and moving forward.

The previous administration was able not only to sell a near vacant mall property, but bring more jobs to the industrial park, working with Logan Stampings to expand and bring jobs from its other locations to Logansport.

Martin's stalled economy and lack of progress is among the reasons why now 31 dozen local residents have signed a petition demanding Martin resign.
