In the waning days of the 2023 Logansport mayoral election, Chris Martin dumped an oversized mailer into the mailboxes of Logansport voters in a tight election. Among the claims the mailer he made was that he personally brought more than 50 businesses and industries to Logansport during his first term.

There is no list of the businesses, the number of employees or the wages they are paid -- or how many businesses just plain didn't make it, or moved to another city.

Fast forward to the second term and we've now witnesses the loss of several downtown businesses from Amelio's to China Lane to Lin's to The Annex to Shively's Barbecue. Meanwhile, there are no new industries in the Cass-Logan Industrial Park.

These claims are the kind of thing that make people suspect of politicians who just want a job and aren't committed to progress or don't know how to make it happen.

This is among several reasons why we're asking Logansport residents to sign and share a petition demanding Martin's resignation and that the city council replace him with a professionally trained and certified city manager.
