Petition updatePetition for ResignationLogansport continues to be mired in 20 worst counties in unemployment

For having a major employer such as Tyson Foods, it has been a difficult year for workers in Cass County.

The latest unemployment rates released for the state show that Cass County continues to be mired among the state's worst unemployment rates. Through May, Cass was tied for the 16th worst rate in Indiana, ahead of only Miami and Howard counties in the contiguous counties.

The rates are reflected in downtown Logansport with empty storefronts where The Annex, Lin's, China Lane, Shively's Barbecue and now Amelio's.

Again, we've heard nothing from the City Building in the past year other than the support for converting the Iron Horse Museum to downtown restrooms.

In contrast, during the previous administration, Cass County's unemployment rate for the majority of months was below the state and national averages.

For these reasons and many others, we ask Logansport residents who care about our community to sign and share our petition demanding that Mayor Martin resign and that the city council appoint a professional, non-partisan city manager in his place.

Please sign and share. Thank you for caring for Logansport.
