Petition updatePetition for ResignationMartin not in the picture when governor hands Logansport a check

Recently, many people who saw a check presentation from Gov. Mike Braun to the city of Logansport might have done a double-take. Usually, the mayor accepts those ceremonial checks from the governor, but Logansport Mayor Chris Martin was no where in sight for that photo opportunity.

It's ironic that when he campaigned for mayor in 2019, at the candidate forum at the Logansport Ivy Tech campus, he said Logansport didn't need grant money because it had enough funds already to do any necessary road work.

Unfortunately, he didn't find the funds over the past six years to repair or repave Mall Road, Yorktown Road or the rest of Erie Avenue from 18th Street to 10th Street.

Meanwhile, Logansport received just over $1 million for local road repairs from the state, but to put that into context, it's less than what the town of Culver received. Culver has no mayor, yet it garnered more state road funding in this round than what Logansport, a city more than double its size, could do with a mayor -- and one from the governor's party.

Where is Chris Martin when the governor makes time to present money to Logansport? It's a question that deserves to be ansewred, but we won't hear that answer from him because he shows up for work when he has to be there, but not most of the time like all other city workers. For someone paid in the high five figure range, it's disappointing.

Logansport deserves better, which is why we implore you to sign our petition and share it with friends who care about Logansport's future. More than 70 percent of Logansport's registered voters did not go to the polls in 2023, and the incumbent mayor received less than 50 percent of the vote, but he's still in office.

To make "change for the better" happen, it starts with us.

Thank you for caring about our community.

Sincerely,

Dave
