Last week marked the long-awaited opening of The Batman Museum in Logansport, an effort almost entirely driven by Mark Racop, a former David Letterman Scholarship Award winner at Ball State.

While Mayor Chris Martin was on hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremony, he has no direct link to any ribbon-cutting ceremonies at the Cass/Logan Industrial Park in the five years he has been mayor. This is significant because in the previous administration, the Logan Stampings project brought together employees from other plants and filled the former Hartz Mountain plant with new investment. The industrial park off Ind. 29 is in the city limits and contributes not only to its tax base, but is the only industrial base in the Lewis Cass School Corporation.

Meanwhile, Martin appeared at ribbon-cutting ceremonies for The Junction and the stormwater project for Melbourne Avenue -- neither project he started or secured for the city.

As the petition demanding his resignation has reached the 180-signature mark, we again implore Logansport residents to understand what's happening and why our city needs more effective, committed, success-oriented leadership that brings higher paying jobs to our city. Fresh leadership is the best gift we can give our city this holiday season.
