Petition for Repaving Upper Lichau Road

Petition for Repaving Upper Lichau Road
The Issue
For years, residents and commuters of upper Lichau Road have been struggling with the poor and deteriorating condition of this critical thoroughfare. Potholes and weather-related damages are a common sight, leaving us who use this road daily frustrated. This pressing issue is more than just a personal inconvenience; it impacts the quality of our daily lives and can potentially jeopardize our safety - particularly during a fire, given that it is our only path for egress.
Despite its importance for so many of us, the 1.5 miles of upper Lichau Road (from Cannon Lane near Gravity Hill to the Fairfield Osborne Preserve) is currently not on Sonoma County Board of Supervisors' approved list for repaving in 2026/2027, the next year when projects can be added to the existing backlog. The county supervisors will shortly be establishing that “Approved List”.
A group of us recently met with our new County Supervisor, Rebecca Hermosillo, at the Fairfield Osborne Reserve to make her aware of our concerns about the road's condition. We have also met via zoom with the county’s Deputy Director of Transportation and Public Works, Janice Thompson, to let her know we deserve to have a well-maintained road that is safe and reliable on which to travel.
There are an estimated 100 residences along Upper Lichau Road. It is time that we act as a community to make our concerns heard and acted upon.
Please sign this petition urging the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors to include upper Lichau Road in their planning for road repairs and repaving in 2026/2027. Let our voices become the catalyst for the much-needed changes.
