Petition for Removal of Illegal Gates Next to Geeta Mandir, Model Town, Jalandhar
The Issue
Petition to:
Shri Bhagwant Mann
Chief Minister, Government of Punjab
Municipal Corporation Jalandhar
Subject: Immediate Action Required to Remove Unauthorized Gates on Geeta Mandir to Johal Market Road
Summary:
We, the concerned residents of Jalandhar, urge the removal of two illegally installed iron gates on the public road from Geeta Mandir to Johal Market. No permission was granted for these installations, and they block public access to a road that has served the community for over 75 years. Similar illegal installations have also occurred in Park Lane, Model Town. We request immediate action to restore public rights and access to these roads.
Full Petition:
We, the undersigned, bring to your urgent attention the illegal installation of two iron gates on the public road leading from Geeta Mandir to Johal Market in Jalandhar. These gates were installed without any permission from the authorities and block access to a road that has been an essential connection for the local community for more than 75 years.
The first gate is near Plot Numbers 530 R & 530 L, close to Geeta Mandir, and the second gate is between Kahlon Hospital and Sanjha Chulha restaurant. These gates were erected without any legal authorization and unjustly restrict public access to a major road. Public infrastructure is a shared resource, and no one has the right to block it for private use.
Previously, illegal gates were also installed on Park Lane, Model Town (Nikku Park Road). We urge you to ensure that such violations are addressed and that public rights are restored.
We respectfully request immediate action to remove these illegal gates and restore the road between Geeta Mandir and Johal Market to its original, accessible status. Furthermore, we call for a thorough investigation into how such violations were allowed to occur and urge the authorities to take measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The people of Jalandhar deserve free and unrestricted access to public roads, and we rely on your leadership to ensure this injustice is corrected swiftly.
Sign this petition to demand the removal of illegal gates and restore access to public roads in Jalandhar!
