PETITION FOR PEACE IN RIVERS STATE: WIKE AND FUBARA SHOULD SHEATH THEIR SWORDS

PETITION FOR PEACE IN RIVERS STATE: WIKE AND FUBARA SHOULD SHEATH THEIR SWORDS
The Issue
We, the concerned citizens of Nigeria, under the aeigis of Niger Delta Civil Society Leaders Forum, urge you to take immediate CIVIC ACTION, expressing our CITIZENSHIP to sign this PETITION FOR PEACE addressed to ALL NIGERIANS, Home and in Diaspora, Amnesty International etc, to take action to ensure lasting peace in Rivers State. The recent conflict between Governor Sim Fubara and Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has brought undue tension and instability to the region.
The Call to Action:
We demand that both parties:
Cease all hostilities_ and engage in constructive dialogue to resolve their differences.
Prioritise the welfare and security of the people of Rivers State.
Work together_ to address the underlying issues that led to the conflict.
The people of Rivers State have suffered enough from the conflict, and it's time for peace to reign.
The state's rich oil resources should be a blessing, not a curse, and should be utilized for the benefit of all.
The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria emphasises the security and welfare of the people as the primary purpose of government.
The Solution:
We propose the establishment of a peace and reconciliation committee, comprising representatives from both sides, to:
Facilitate dialogue_ and negotiations.
Address grievances_ and find mutually beneficial solutions.
Promote peacebuilding initiatives and community engagement.
Join the Movement:
Sign this petition to show your support for peace in Rivers State. Together, we can make a difference and ensure a brighter future for the people of Rivers State.
Signatures: Dcn Okezi Odugala and Emmanuel Anderson Ogan
Date: 10th October 2024
An excerpt in the Law & Society Magazine, "Rivers State: Analysing the just-ended Wike-Fubara war in light of Governor Sim’s “no price is too much for peace to reign” declaration" - should be upheld to avert what the people of Rivers State have suffered enough from the conflict and it's time for peace to reign. Let 'All swords be sheathed for Peace, Justice and Equity reign in corridors of power.
The state's rich oil resources should be a blessing, not a curse, and should be utilised for the benefit of all.
The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria emphasises the security and welfare of the people as the primary purpose of government, NOT THE INTEREST OF ANY POLITICIAN ABOUT OUR PUBLIC GOOD.
