PETITION FOR NATIONAL DECRIMINALIZATION AND LEGALIZATION OF PSYCHEDELIC SUBSTANCES

To: The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) & Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)

We are calling on the DEA and HHS to end the federal ban on psychedelic substances and legalize

their use for both medical and recreational purposes. These substances like psilocybin, LSD, MDMA,

and mescalinehave been wrongfully classified for decades based on misinformation and political

motives, not science.

Modern research from top institutions confirms that psychedelics are safe, non-addictive, and

extremely effective in treating depression, PTSD, anxiety, addiction, and more. It's time for the

federal government to follow science, acknowledge past harm, and support responsible, regulated

access to these powerful tools for healing and personal growth.

Why This Matters

The Truth Has Been Suppressed for Too Long:

In 1970, psychedelics were labeled Schedule I drugsmeaning they had no medical value and a high

potential for abuse. This was not based on science, but politics.

Richard Nixon's administration intentionally targeted psychedelics to discredit anti-war activists and

people of color. Nixon aide John Ehrlichman even admitted:

Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did This false classification halted decades of promising research and criminalized millions of

Americans. It's time to correct the record.

Scientific Evidence:

- Psilocybin treats depression, anxiety, and trauma.

- MDMA-assisted therapy shows 67% PTSD remission.

- LSD, DMT, and mescaline help treat cluster headaches, alcoholism, and OCD.

- Psychedelics are non-addictive and have no lethal overdose risk.

Misinformation:

- "Psychedelics cause brain damage" FALSE.

- "LSD leads to permanent psychosis" FALSE.

- "MDMA burns holes in the brain" FALSE (based on a retracted study).

Other Countries and U.S. States Are Already Moving Forward:

- Oregon, Colorado, Seattle, Oakland, and more have reformed laws.

- Australia and Canada allow medical access.

- Public support is growing rapidly.

We Demand:

1. Reschedule psychedelic substances.

2. Legalize regulated adult use.

3. Fund federal research.

4. Expunge criminal records.

5. Protect state-level reforms.

This Is a Call to Conscience:

End the lies. End the fear. Legalize psychedelics.

Respectfully but resolutely,

The undersigned citizens of the United States of America.
