Petition for Mrs. Kathie Hyde Facility Naming Consideration – Mabank ISD 

For over five decades, Mrs. Kathie Hyde has been the heartbeat of Mabank High School and a cornerstone of the Mabank ISD education community. As she proudly begins Year 53 in the classroom, we, the undersigned, believe it is time to honor her legacy in a meaningful and permanent way.

We respectfully ask Mabank ISD to consider naming or renaming a facility, building, or designated area within the district in recognition of Mrs. Kathie Hyde, whose lifetime of service has transformed lives, guided generations, and elevated the standard of excellence in public education.

 About Mrs. Kathie Hyde:
53 years of unwavering service in education

Witnessed and adapted to every major change in Texas education law, policy, curriculum, and testing for more than five decades

Began her career earning just $6,000 per year, driven by passion—not paycheck

Estimated to have directly impacted the academic lives of over 7,000+ Mabank students

A mentor, leader, and steward to young educators entering the profession—sharing wisdom, guidance, and a model of professionalism and integrity

Known for her tireless work ethic, moral compass, and enduring love for her students and school community
 
Why It Matters:
Mrs. Hyde has not only shaped the minds of thousands of Mabank graduates, but she has also played an integral role in cultivating a legacy of leadership within the district. Her influence extends far beyond her own classroom—she has nurtured and supported countless new teachers, modeling the qualities of an effective, compassionate, and dedicated educator.

A facility bearing her name would stand as a symbol of what it means to serve with purpose, and would inspire generations of students and educators to come.

Petition Objective:
We ask that the Mabank ISD School Board and Administration formally evaluate Mrs. Kathie Hyde’s extraordinary contributions and consider her name in the naming or renaming of any Mabank ISD facility, building, or designated area.
