The Issue

We, the undersigned parents, guardians, community members, and employees, are formally requesting an immediate investigation into multiple reports of racial discrimination occurring at Mulberry Elementary School.

Numerous concerns have been brought forward by parents, students, and school staff regarding inequitable treatment of Black students, parents, and employees. These concerns include, but may not be limited to, the following:

• Bus drivers of color reportedly being denied reasonable restroom breaks while performing their duties.
• Students of color receiving suspensions or disciplinary action without clear explanation or justification.
• An overall environment where families and staff members of minority backgrounds feel they are treated unfairly or unequally.
These reports raise serious concerns regarding equity, fairness, and the well-being of students and staff within the school community.

Mulberry Elementary School should be a place where every child, parent, and employee is treated with dignity, respect, and equal opportunity regardless of race or background.

Therefore, we respectfully demand the following:

1. An immediate and independent investigation into the reported incidents of discrimination.
2. A review of disciplinary practices to ensure fairness and transparency.
3. A review of staff treatment policies, including working conditions for school bus drivers.
4. Transparency from school administration regarding how student recognitions such as Student of the Month are determined.
5. Implementation of equity and anti-discrimination policies to ensure fair treatment of all students and staff moving forward.
Our children deserve a school environment where fairness, equality, and respect are non-negotiable.

By signing below, we stand together as a community calling for accountability, transparency, and equal treatment for all.
