**Subject:** Petition for inclusion of dental care in public health schemes and strengthening of dental services across the country
Respected Sir,
We, the members of the National Organisation of Dental Surgeons (NODS) and concerned citizens, submit the following demands arising from the serious issues of dental surgeons and public oral health discussed in the virtual meeting of the National Organisation of Dental Surgeons (NODS) held on 15 August 2026:
1. Include **all dental treatments** under the Ayushman Bharat scheme so that economically weaker sections of society can also receive timely and affordable dental care.
2. Establish **at least one District Dental Hospital** in every district of the country to ensure specialised oral healthcare reaches the grassroots level.
3. Ensure the appointment of **at least one qualified dental surgeon** at every Primary Health Centre (PHC) and every Ayushman Arogya Mandir.
4. Make **oral and dental health an integral part of the primary healthcare system** so that preventive and curative dental services become accessible to all.
5. Strengthen the government health system by ensuring **adequate recruitment of dental surgeons** and expansion of basic dental infrastructure, especially to serve rural and economically weaker populations.
6. Take strict and effective action against **quacks** (unqualified practitioners) who are endangering public health by providing illegal and unsafe dental treatments.
We request the Government to kindly consider these demands on priority and take necessary steps for their early implementation in the interest of public oral health and the welfare of dental professionals.
