The Issue

HOAs Were Meant to Protect Communities — Instead, They Are Destroying Lives

Across Florida and the nation, homeowners are being bullied, fined, surveilled, and even forced from their homes by unaccountable HOA boards that operate like private dictatorships.

What began as a system for neighborhood upkeep has become a tool for financial exploitation, harassment, and the erosion of basic constitutional freedoms.

Your property. Your voice. Your privacy. All at risk.

This is not just about unfair rules — it’s about protecting the American dream from abuse and corruption.

It’s time to say: NO MORE HOA

We are calling on homeowners, future homeowners, and property rights advocates to join a growing movement demanding the freedom to live in peace, without fear of excessive fees, arbitrary restrictions, and the unchecked power of HOAs.

HOAs were once meant to help communities thrive. Instead, they’ve become unaccountable private governments that control our homes, our lives, and our wallets.

It’s time to take our homes back.

Why HOAs Must Be Changed

They Drain Our Hard-Earned Money
HOA dues are rising rapidly, often without explanation or oversight. Families are forced to pay for services they didn’t approve, and in many cases, never receive.

They Strip Away Our Property Rights
HOAs dictate what color you can paint your home, what plants you can grow, how many cars can be in your driveway, and whether your child’s toys can be left in the yard. You own your home, yet someone else controls it.

They Threaten Your Home Over Petty Infractions
A late fee or a minor rule violation can spiral into thousands of dollars in fines, liens, and legal action. Some families have lost their homes to foreclosure over minor disputes with their HOA.

They Are Run by Unchecked, Unelected Boards
Many HOAs are run by small cliques with little accountability. Elections are often manipulated, and transparency is rare, leaving homeowners without a voice.

They Create Hostile Communities
Instead of fostering neighborly bonds, HOAs turn communities into battlegrounds of surveillance and punishment. Fear of anonymous complaints and fines damages relationships and erodes trust.
What We’re Fighting For

We are calling on the Florida Legislature, state legislatures nationwide, and federal housing regulators to:

  • Amend State Statutes to Prohibit Mandatory HOAs
  • Amend state laws to eliminate mandatory HOAs and dissolve current HOAs in communities.
  • Pass the Homeowners’ Bill of Rights
  • Guarantee that no private entity can override a homeowner’s right to reasonable property use and enjoyment.
  • Stop Developers from Forcing HOAs on Future Homeowners
  • Ban the automatic creation of HOAs in new developments.
  • Return Responsibility for Roads and Parks to Local Governments
  • Public infrastructure should be a public responsibility, not left to poorly managed HOAs.

Who Has the Power to Make This Happen?

  • Florida State Legislature: Senators and Representatives who can introduce and pass state legislation.
  • State Legislatures Across the U.S.: Every state can take back control from HOAs.
  • U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD): They can recommend federal guidelines to limit HOA abuses.
  • The Office of the State Attorney General: They can investigate and prosecute HOA misconduct and protect homeowners’ rights.
  • Your Local Government: They can stop enabling HOAs and assume responsibility for local services.

  • Sign this petition. Your signature is your voice, and together we can become too loud to ignore.
  • Share this with your neighbors, family, and friends — whether they’ve been victims of HOA abuse or simply believe in property rights and homeowner freedom.
  • Contact your State Senator and State Representative. Tell them to stand up for homeowners and end the abusive power of mandatory HOAs.
  • This is bigger than one neighborhood. It’s about the American Dream.

Owning a home is supposed to be about freedom, security, and stability. HOAs have turned it into a constant battle for control over what should be ours. Let’s take that freedom back. For ourselves, for our families, for future generations.
