Joe Gruters is an American politician and a leading figure in the Florida Republican Party. He chaired the Florida Republican Party from 2018 to 2022. Gruters currently serves in the Florida Senate, representing the 22nd District, which includes Sarasota County and part of Charlotte County. Previously, he was a member of the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2018 before transitioning to the State Senate. His early political engagement included working as the campaign manager for U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan and serving as vice chairman of the Republican Party of Florida. Gruters holds a Bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and an MBA from the University of South Florida. Professionally, he is a CPA and a small business owner.
