Petition for Financial Justice at Scribe Media

Petition for Financial Justice at Scribe Media
The Issue
On May 24th, 2023, Scribe Media laid off the vast majority of its workers, citing an Article 9 sale of the company as the reason. There was no severance pay for the employees who were laid off, and all benefits and tech access were immediately cut.
As the remaining dedicated crew members of Scribe Media, we prioritize the welfare of our laid-off colleagues. Therefore, we firmly demand that all proceeds from the sale of Scribe Media be exclusively allocated to ensure financial justice for those individuals who played a crucial role in the company's past achievements.
The priority of the funds should be distributed in the following order. Once the financial requirements for each point below are met, the following point will become the next priority, and so on:
1. A solid severance package for the group of ~80 laid-off employees, covering a minimum of two months' pay for each affected employee.
2. An equal severance package for any retained employee who wishes to leave Scribe Media immediately due to Scribe Media’s financial and ethical failings.
3. A $1000 therapy stipend for each affected individual.
4. A general therapy fund for all current and former Scribe employees (from its creation as book-in-a-box until now). This fund should consist of all the remaining money raised from the sale of Scribe Media after the previous points have been satisfied. These funds will be equally distributed across all former and current employees as cash payouts.
Finally, all former crew members be granted ownership and unrestricted access to their hardware as part of their severance package. These computers serve as their essential tools for re-establishing a sense of normalcy and securing new employment opportunities. Depriving them of this hardware would be an unjust penalty, considering the unwavering dedication and contributions these crew members have made to Scribe.
As employees and operators of Scribe Media, we do not feel that these points represent justice but see it as a necessary step towards achieving justice in full.
