Petition for Fair and Consistent Pricing at City Mission Thrift Store
We, the undersigned members of the community, would like to begin by expressing our sincere appreciation for the work that City Mission does for our city. Their commitment to helping those in need, providing shelter, resources, and support services, has made a meaningful impact on countless lives in our community.

It is because we value and support this mission that we feel compelled to bring forward a concern shared by many local residents.

In recent months, pricing at the thrift store has become noticeably higher and increasingly inconsistent. Items that were once affordable and accessible are now priced at levels that make it difficult for many individuals and families—especially those the Mission aims to serve—to shop there regularly.

Thrift stores play an important role in communities by offering affordable goods, promoting reuse, and supporting those who may be struggling financially. When prices rise beyond what is reasonable for secondhand items, it limits access for those in need and discourages community members from shopping and donating.

We respectfully request the following:

A review and adjustment of current pricing practices to better reflect the affordability expected from a community thrift store
Greater consistency in pricing across similar items
Consideration of special pricing days, discounts, or community-focused initiatives to ensure accessibility for all
We believe that more reasonable pricing will not only better serve the community but will also increase customer traffic, improve sales volume, and strengthen overall support for the Mission’s work.

This petition is not meant as criticism, but as constructive feedback from a community that genuinely wants to see City Mission continue to succeed and positively impact as many people as possible.
