To the Pennsylvania State Representatives and State Senators serving Mercer County and the surrounding region: We, the undersigned campers, visitors, families, and supporters of Shenango River Lake, respectfully request your assistance in identifying, supporting, and securing additional funding for improvements to the campground and recreational facilities at Shenango River Lake. Shenango River Lake is an important recreational resource for Northwestern Pennsylvania. Families and visitors come to the lake to camp, boat, fish, enjoy the outdoors, and spend time together. The campground also helps bring visitors into surrounding communities and supports outdoor recreation, tourism, conservation, and local economic activity. Continued investment is needed to help keep the campground safe, accessible, attractive, and capable of serving today's visitors while preserving this public resource for future generations. Requested Areas of Support •  Upgrade and modernize campsites and campground infrastructure. •  Improve electrical service and other campsite utilities where appropriate. •  Repair and improve campground roads, parking areas, and access. •  Improve restrooms, showers, sanitation facilities, and accessibility. •  Repair or upgrade picnic areas, pavilions, playgrounds, trails, beaches, and family recreation facilities. •  Improve lighting, signage, safety features, and emergency access. •  Support environmental conservation and protection of the lake and surrounding natural resources. •  Address aging infrastructure and other improvements needed to meet the needs of campers and visitors. We respectfully ask our elected officials to advocate for Shenango River Lake and to work with the appropriate state and federal agencies, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, local governments, community organizations, and other partners to pursue state, federal, grant, and other available funding sources. Many families have created lifelong memories at Shenango River Lake. We want our children, grandchildren, and generations yet to come to have the same opportunity. By signing this petition, we support efforts to obtain additional funding and resources to preserve, improve, and strengthen the Shenango River Lake campground and recreational facilities.
