To the Government of Saskatchewan and Government of Canada:

We, the undersigned residents, are deeply concerned by the increase in property crime, break-ins, armed home invasions, and repeat offending affecting the Rural Municipality of Garden River No. 490 and surrounding communities.

Rural residents deserve to feel safe in their homes and communities. We are calling for immediate action to strengthen law enforcement and ensure that repeat and dangerous offenders are held accountable.

We petition the appropriate levels of government to:

1.       Increase RCMP staffing and police presence in our region, including regular daytime and nighttime patrols.

2.       Immediately deploy additional provincial enforcement resources, including Saskatchewan Conservation Officers and the Saskatchewan Marshals Service, to patrol the RM of Garden River and surrounding area.

3.       Strengthen consequences for repeat offenders, including those who continue to commit offences while on bail, probation, or other forms of release.

4.       Ensure adequate correctional and remand capacity so that offenders ordered into custody can be held.

5.       Provide sufficient resources to police, prosecutors, courts, corrections, and community supervision to ensure the justice system can respond effectively and promptly to rural crime.

We call on all levels of government to treat the safety and security of rural Saskatchewan residents with urgency and to take immediate, meaningful action.
