PETITION FOR ACCOUNTABILITY & CLASS ACTION against GoodGood Golf, PGA Tour and Callaway

The Issue

Every day, companies influence cultural norms and societal perceptions through the products they showcase and the advertisements they broadcast. Advertising has reach. Major brands have influence. And when corporations choose to create, approve, distribute, sponsor, or profit from content depicting violence against women, those decisions deserve more than scrutiny, but accountability.

Some women who viewed the advertisement report experiencing reactions that may include emotional distress, fear, anxiety, intrusive memories, sleep disruption, feelings of humiliation or degradation, or the resurfacing of traumatic experiences involving abuse or violence. The emotional distress caused by being exposed to such triggers is real and overwhelmingly painful, rippling through the lives of victims and survivors of domestic violence who are trying to heal and rebuild their lives.

GoodGood Golf, PGA Tour, and Callaway Golf must be held accountable for their role in perpetuating a harmful narrative. This narrative puts millions of survivors at risk and strategically ignores the undeniably damaging impact of domestic abuse. By showcasing and glorifying behaviors that should never be condoned, these companies are failing their consumers and society.

According to the CDC, More than 1 in 3 U.S. women  experienced contact sexual violence or physical violence during their lifetime. To witness companies that are widely respected for their affiliations with renowned sports organizations ignore these facts for the sake of advertising and profit is nothing short of disgraceful.

It is imperative that we act decisively to demand an industry-wide commitment to zero tolerance towards domestic abuse and hold those accountable in a way that suits their actions.

We call upon Good Good Golf, PGA Tour and Callaway Golf to:

Provide full transparency regarding the conception, production, review, approval, and publication of the advertisement.

Identify the individuals and corporate decision-makers responsible for approving the advertisement.

Explain what safeguards, review procedures, or brand-safety standards existed before the advertisement was released.

Preserve all communications, drafts, recordings, internal approvals, contracts, messages, emails, and other records concerning the creation and publication of the advertisement.

Furthermore, filing a class action lawsuit against these companies for their negligent and harmful advertising practices is a necessary step toward justice. Victims of domestic violence should not be silenced or re-traumatized by irresponsible and sensationalist advertising. Ensuring economic repercussions for these missteps will encourage broader corporate accountability and foster a safer and more compassionate public discourse.

Join me in holding these companies accountable for their actions. Sign this petition to demand justice for victims of domestic violence and ACCOUNTABILITY for GoodGood Golf, PGA Tour, and Callaway Golf. Every signature is a stand against domestic abuse and a move towards a more responsible and progressive culture, where 'men being men' isn't an excuse anymore.
