Petition for a Unified Graduation at Lancaster High School
The Issue
As a proud grandparent of two seniors at Lancaster High School, I am deeply concerned about the school administration’s decision to split the Class of 2025 graduation into two separate ceremonies. This decision not only undermines the unity and spirit of the graduating class but also denies students and their families the opportunity to celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime milestone together.
Graduation is more than just a ceremony it is a celebration of years of hard work, friendships, and growth. The thought of siblings, cousins, or close friends being separated by different ceremonies simply because of last names is heartbreaking and unfair. It also places an unnecessary burden on families who may have to attend two graduations instead of one, disrupting their schedules and diminishing the significance of this special day.
While we understand the challenge posed by the construction of last year’s venue at the jethawks stadium, there are viable alternatives nearby. Why not consider hosting the graduation at the AV fairgrounds or the nearby AVC stadium? These locations could accommodate the full class and their families, preserving the unity and dignity this moment deserves. Splitting the graduation and holding it at the school feels like the easy way out for admin, rather than the best solution for students and their families.
We urge the Lancaster High School administration to reconsider their decision and explore better venue options that allow for a single, unified graduation. The Class of 2025 has worked incredibly hard to get here, and they deserve to walk the stage together as one, just like every class before them.
Please sign this petition to show your support for a unified graduation ceremony that honors the entire Lancaster High School Class of 2025 and respects the families who have supported them every step of the way. Together, we can ensure this celebration is as meaningful as it should be.
