Petition for a 50-Meter Pool

The Issue

We, the undersigned members of the community, are writing to express our strong support for the construction of a 50-meter pool in our beloved city, Fredericton. We believe that a larger pool will provide numerous benefits to the community, enhance the quality of life for residents, and foster the development of swimming and water-related activities. We kindly request that you give due consideration to our concerns and act upon this petition.

A 50-meter pool offers several advantages that cannot be overlooked. Firstly, it allows for a wider range of aquatic activities to take place simultaneously. It can accommodate multiple swimming lanes, diving boards, water polo matches, synchronized swimming practices, and other water-based recreational programs. By having a larger pool, our community members, regardless of their age or skill level, will have access to a more diverse range of aquatic opportunities, promoting health, fitness and overall well-being.

Moreover, a 50-meter pool provides a greater capacity for competitive swimming events, training programs, and swimming meets. With a longer pool length, our city would have the opportunity to host regional, national e.g., 2029 Canada Games, and even international swimming competitions, attracting athletes from far and wide and boosting tourism. This will not only bring significant economic benefits but also enhance our city's reputation as a sports and recreation hub.

Additionally, a 50-meter pool promotes inclusivity and accessibility. Its larger size allows for greater participation from individuals with disabilities, swimming clubs, schools, and community organizations. With ample space, it becomes easier to organize swimming lessons, water safety programs, and adaptive aquatic activities for people of all abilities. This will strengthen our community bonds and ensure that everyone has the chance to enjoy the benefits of aquatic recreation.

Lastly, it is important to consider the long-term cost-effectiveness of a 50-meter pool. While the initial investment may be higher, the operational and maintenance costs per swimmer are typically lower compared to a smaller pool. By opting for a larger pool now, we can ensure that our community's needs are met for many years to come, without the need for costly renovations or expansions in the future.

In the light of the above-mentioned reasons, we, the concerned citizens of Fredericton, hereby request that you prioritize the construction of a 50-meter pool in our city. We believe that this investment will have a positive impact on our community's health, economy, and overall well-being.

We kindly ask you to review this petition carefully and consider our collective voice. We are confident that a 50-meter pool will serve as a valuable asset to our city and leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. We eagerly await for a positive response and look forward to witnessing the realization of our shared vision.

Yours sincerely,
