Petition for a 20mph Speed Limit in Scholes Village
The Issue
20 mph is the MAXIMUM SAFE SPEED to drive through the village. This is due to the very narrow road, blind summits and bends, and narrow / non existent pavements.
A reduced speed limit will considerably decrease the risk of serious road traffic collisions.
Additionally in Scholes Village there is considerable non motorised usage (walkers, runners, cyclists, horses and cattle).
According to a fact sheet by the UK's Royal Society for Prevention of Accidents, a speed limit of 20mph can bring down the chance of lethal injury by 10%.
It is our duty as members of this community to champion safety for all.
Sign this petition to call on our local council to reduce the speed limit to 20mph through Scholes Village, protecting residents and visitors alike.
