Petition Councilman Julian Jones to OPPOSE Zoning change in Rural Reisterstown

Petition Councilman Julian Jones to OPPOSE Zoning change in Rural Reisterstown
The Issue
I am a resident of Reisterstown, MD, and like many others in our community, I am deeply concerned about the proposed Baltimore County zoning change 4-017, off of Berrymans Lane and Deer Park Rd. This change would allow for Business Major zoning in an area that is predominantly rural conservancy. This not only threatens the tranquility of our neighborhood but also disrupts the balance of our environment in this residential and preservation area.
This proposed change is completely contrary to the Baltimore County Master Plan, which aims to protect and enhance rural areas by limiting development (source: Baltimore County Government).
Business Major development has been diverted AWAY from this rural area of Reisterstown, which still requires well water & septic service and the streets are without curb and gutter. This area is bordered by the Liberty Reservoir and Soldiers Delight Nature Preserve. Business development has been redirected to the Owings Mills New Town area, serviced by I-795 since 1990, including Franklin Blvd/Red Run Blvd interchange and proposed interchange at Dolfield Blvd. Traffic patterns travel along these highways, as instituted years ago in the Master Plan. The area in question is several miles from an interchange and 2 miles from a street with a curb.
The impact on local wildlife will be devastating as well. According to Maryland Department of Natural Resources, such drastic changes can lead to habitat loss for various species (source: Maryland DNR). Headwaters of the Red Run Stream are found in this area. Wetlands are present. Ingress/egress avenues required to enter this parcel would further disturb the environment. Extensive negative impact, not only to the environment, but to existing homes and residents with increased noise pollution and traffic congestion.
These trucks would be often traveling at night, along narrow rural roads with minimal lighting.
We need your support now more than ever. By signing this petition, you are standing with us against this proposed zoning change that threatens our community's character and environmental integrity. Let's make sure that our voices are heard loud and clear by Councilman Julian Jones and ALL of the Baltimore County Coucil that the PUBLIC is not in support of this change.
and the negative impact felt in the surrounding community the power to halt this detrimental proposal. Pl
