Petition: Ask Killeen ISD to Allow Safe Reusable Metal Water Bottles
Petition: Ask Killeen ISD to Allow Safe Reusable Metal Water Bottles
The Issue
💧 LET KISD STUDENTS BRING SAFE REUSABLE WATER BOTTLES! 💧
📢 Parents, students, teachers, and Killeen community members — we need your voice!
Killeen ISD’s current 2026–2027 rules state that metal water bottles are not permitted on KISD campuses. (Killeen Independent School District)
We understand that school safety is important. But we believe there is a reasonable middle ground.
Families should be allowed to send students to school with a safe, reusable water bottle, including stainless-steel bottles, as long as the bottle meets reasonable safety requirements.
💧 WHY DOES THIS MATTER?
Students spend a large portion of their day at school. They need access to water and should be encouraged to stay hydrated.
Many families already own reusable stainless-steel water bottles. Requiring families to purchase another type of bottle simply because of the material can create an unnecessary expense.
Reusable bottles are also:
✅ Durable
✅ Reusable
✅ Less wasteful than disposable bottles
✅ Convenient for students
✅ Already commonly used by families
🛑 WE ARE NOT ASKING KISD TO IGNORE SAFETY.
We are asking KISD to consider a reasonable safety standard instead of a blanket ban based solely on the bottle’s material.
For example, KISD could allow bottles that:
✔️ Are non-glass
✔️ Contain water only
✔️ Have a secure lid
✔️ Have no sharp edges or dangerous modifications
✔️ Meet a reasonable size requirement
✔️ Can be inspected when there is a legitimate safety concern
SAFETY AND HYDRATION CAN COEXIST.
We are asking the Killeen ISD Board of Trustees and District Administration to review and reconsider the current metal water bottle policy and work with parents, students, educators, and the community to create a reasonable policy that protects students while allowing access to safe reusable bottles.

💧 LET STUDENTS STAY HYDRATED.
🛡️ KEEP STUDENTS SAFE.
♻️ ALLOW REUSABLE OPTIONS.
📢 LET OUR VOICES BE HEARD.
