Petition Aldi to Open a Store in Tumut, NSW

Petition Aldi to Open a Store in Tumut, NSW
The issue
Living in the heart of Tumut and the greater Snowy Valleys Council region brings unique challenges, one of which is accessing affordable and diverse grocery options. Presently, the closest Aldi store is more than an hour's drive away, making it inconvenient for residents who seek the quality and savings that Aldi is known for.
Tumut and its surrounding areas have a residential population of approximately 14,000 people. By opening an Aldi store in Tumut, we could greatly benefit from increased competition, breaking the existing grocery duopoly that limits choice for consumers. The availability of an Aldi store would undoubtedly bring more competitive pricing, leading to better financial value for shoppers in our community.
In addition to the residential population, Tumut is a popular tourist town with visitors from all over the world. Many of these tourists will already be seasoned Aldi shoppers who know, trust, and rely on the brand. They will love the opportunity to continue their consumer journey with Aldi while visiting Tumut.
Apart from enriching our shopping experience, the introduction of an Aldi store in Tumut would be a boon for regional employment. Aldi has a reputation for being a supportive employer offering meaningful job opportunities with attractive remuneration packages. Such employment prospects are invaluable for our rural community and can help boost the local economy.
Furthermore, having a local Aldi would encourage more sustainable shopping habits. A nearby grocery store reduces the need for long car trips, therefore lowering greenhouse gas emissions and contributing to environmental protection efforts.
Supporting the call for Aldi to open a store in Tumut is a step forward in ensuring that residents have access to affordable and diverse grocery options while also fostering local economic growth and protecting our environment. Please join me in petitioning Aldi to recognize the needs of our community by signing this petition.
