*Petition: Address Corruption, Youth Unemployment, and Unfair Taxation in Nigeria*
The Issue

- *Corruption & Mismanagement*: Billions of naira meant for infrastructure, healthcare, and education are siphoned off, leaving citizens with inadequate services and infrastructure. Examples include:
- The $2.1 billion NNPC missing oil revenue scandal (2014)
- The N2.5 trillion fuel subsidy scam (2012)
- The $16 billion lost to oil theft and corruption in the Niger Delta (2020)
- *Youth Unemployment*: Over 80 million young Nigerians are jobless, leading to frustration, poverty, and increased crime rates.
- *Taxing the Unemployed*: Taxing those without income adds financial strain, limiting economic activity and exacerbating poverty.
*The Solutions:*
- *End Corruption & Mismanagement*: The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) must track and prosecute cases, ensuring funds are used for development projects, as mandated by the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act (2000) and the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act (2011).
- *Tackle Youth Unemployment*: Invest in tech, agriculture, and vocational training to create jobs, support startups, and stimulate economic growth, as outlined in the National Youth Policy (2019) and the National Industrial Revolution Plan (2014).
- *Stop Taxing the Unemployed*: Exempt those without income from taxes, focusing on taxing businesses and high-income earners to boost revenue, as provided for in the Personal Income Tax (Amendment) Act (2011).
- *Practice Transparency & Accountability*: Ensure open budgeting, regular audits, and citizen participation in governance to prevent corruption, as required by the Freedom of Information Act (2011) and the Public Procurement Act (2007).
