Reverse the Biodiversity order on Tenterhill Meadow.

Reverse the Biodiversity order on Tenterhill Meadow.

The Issue

Tenterhill Meadow is open land in north Stanground, by the river. It was an area widely used by all. Peterborough City Council designated this site as a biodiversity site in 2015,  4 years before putting through a planning application for 24 houses.

Initially I began the campaign in objecting to the councils plans for building houses on Tenterhill Meadow, with the assistance of local residents. We have now as a community won and the planning application has been rejected.

We ask you to sign this petition to press the Council to remove the current biodiversity status, for regular grass cutting to recommence, allowing the area to be enjoyed by all as a much needed recreational resource.

Peterborough City Council have effectively demonstrated that this area is not required as a biodiversity site by supporting plans for a housing development here.
There is already a large area of Natural land adjacent to the Tenterhill site allowing for biodiversity to flourish locally. Additionally the River Nene and it's channels which this area adjoins, provides a natural biodiversity corridor across the city.

The area is vital as a community resource, allowing activities on this last open area of usable land. This is prevented by it's being a biodiversity area and not maintained.
