Why this petition matters

Started by Clara Durbidge

The scenic and natural amenity of the Point Lookout headland on North Stradbroke Island is currently protected under the Trusteeship of the Redland City Council. It now is threatened by the Council looking at revoking this protection. If the Council proceeds with this change it will allow construction of at least one building within this treasured natural sanctuary.

Your special place will be changed forever. The iconic North Gorge Walk is not an appropriate place for buildings and intrusive structures. Think about it -the birds, the whales, the dolphins, the turtles, the serenity, the quiet, the peace, the kangaroos, the trees, the rugged cliffs OR lights, concrete, hard surfaces, signage and noise.

This headland area deserves protection that cannot be revoked.

RCC, how special does it have to be ?

We are asking Cr Peter Mitchell and Mark Robinson MP to not revoke any section of LOT 48 ( The Scenic Recreation Reserve R1781) including Point Lookout headland, from RCC trusteeship.
