Ban Cows on Roads and Highways

Ban Cows on Roads and Highways

The Issue

I humbly suggest that for those Cows that the owner doesn’t care to take care of them let the Veterinary Department take them away to their farm. By banning Cows on the road it benefits in many ways, it Safe their Life, Safe Human Life (i.e. Motorist) and it contribute to Clean India Mission (Swachh Bharat), reduce Noise Pollution (vehicles blowing horn at them), ease traffic movement etc.

While there is great movement to ban cow slaughter across the country that may be good for some or may be bad for some and have a mix of feelings, I suggest we do some little basic thing first by banning cows on the road first.

I would like to suggest banning cows on the road for their own safety and safety of others. Everyday they are mowed down and killed by trucks on the highways. They are posing a grave danger to themselves and to a motorist especially at nighttime. It pains me when every time I travel/drove on highways I came across of so many major accidents involving cows where they are killed and hurt in the accidents.

It is a great danger especially to small cars driving at night or in poor visibility conditions such as fog, bad weather where visibility is just few meters away compare to day time. Because they are dark in colour it even make it more difficult to spot or see them. It is almost a common phenomena on expressways and highways that you suddenly see them when it is too close to control a car traveling in speed and you lost control of a car, as a result accident occur causing injuries and death to cows and people inside the car.

I observed that cows are led free and roam freely on roads and streets of the country they are in groups they like to relax, sleep, spend there days and nights on streets/roads and highways which make a motorist difficult to maneuver, not only that they also dirty the streets with cow dung here and there. It is a common scene in roads and freeways in India that cows wandering free. It is high time that the veterinary and police department starts taking care of them.

Thanking you and gratefully yours
