A Humble PET-ITION: Parks to be Open to Pet Dogs
The Issue
The Background: I have a 1 year old Golden Retriever (Rumi) who we dearly love and like every pet lover would say - My dog is family to me. Just like me, I'm sure there are many wonderful families who support this tradition at home.
The Need: There are stray dogs in my locality who we treat with utter care and food from time to time. BUT the flipside to this is, the same dogs will not welcome your pet especially when a puppy enters their area - It's a threat to them. So for our old parents and young folks, it becomes difficult to walk the dog in the open. The only SAFE HAVEN for these beautiful creatures is a Park which are like 4 in number in my locality.
The Situation : The residents living around the park have qualms about us walking the dog in the park. They often come down to the park and threaten you with outrageous actions they would take if you bring your dog to the park. When I try to calm down the people or ask them for 10 minutes for my dog to have his moment with nature - They yell, scream, crowd and surround me with remarks about how violent my docile and unaware dog can be and how he is polluting the park. We even offered to pay double the maintenance per house for the Park welfare. Also, the children who live around these parks know my dog by his name and secretly come to play with him. My 29 year old sister has teared up more often than ever when an elderly person screamed at her for just walking our dog. These parks that they are protecting are littered by humans like them - with beer bottles, broken glasses, plastic and all sorts of trash which is not even environmental-friendly BUT the only fuss is about our Dogs who have nowhere to go without Leash, smell nature and play
The Solution: Only if there were recreational parks (Aleast One) in every locality to support the coexistence of human beings and these lovable pets. We need this change for good. We don't want our family to be rejected by people of this society. I want my dog's life and every dog's life to be treated more dearly and with respect.
