Cedar & Salt operates a portable wood fire community sauna and wishes to operate at quiet beachfront locations on the Northern Beaches for locals to use at sunrise & sunset to combine sauna bathing with refreshing ocean dips. 

We have requested a permit to operate in the Open Spaces in the Northern Beaches Local area and have been declined due to air pollution concerns. 

CEDAR & SALT STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT THE BENEFITS OF A COMMUNITY SAUNA AT BEACHFRONT LOCATIONS ON THE NORTHERN BEACHES          OUTWEIGH            ANY CONCERNS RELATING TO THE NEGLIGIBLE  AIR POLLUTION CONCERNS. 

Benefits for the community sauna include; 

• Reduction of stress & Anxiety 
• Mental Health Benefits
• Improved mood 
• Improved cardiovascular function
• Improved belonging to the community to develop a strong community spirt
• Provides an avenue to meet knew people and form new relationships in an environment that promotes wellness in nature 
• Encourages bathers to de-digitise, present in nature and take 30 minutes for themselves daily without the pressures of society.

Permit Cedar & Salt to operate a portable woodfire traditional community sauna within the Northern Beaches Council local Area. The locations proposed are South Curl Curl Car Park, Palm Beach Car Park & Whale Beach Car Park. 
We strongly believe that the benefits of the community wood fire sauna; including wellness & health benefits, improving community relationships & fighting mental health outweigh any air pollution concerns caused by the flue of the sauna. 

We the undersigned Respectfully petition Northern Beaches Council to: 

We strongly believe that the community of the Northern Beaches Council Local Area would benefit from having a portable sauna operate in close proximity to the beach so community can enjoy the benefits of sauna whilst interacting with fellow community members in nature. There is strong scientific data on the wellness benefits of sauna. Australia is lacking sauna culture and the local community would greatly benefit from its benefits. We strongly agree that the Northern Beaches council should permit Cedar & Salt to operate in the Northern Beaches Council Local Area.
