Petition to Permanently Reduce Australia's Fuel Excise

We, the undersigned, respectfully call on the Australian Government to permanently reduce the fuel excise from its current rate of 52.6 cents per litre.

Australian households, small businesses, farmers, tradespeople, and transport operators continue to face significant cost-of-living pressures. Ongoing global instability, including conflict in the Middle East and resulting uncertainty in international energy markets, has contributed to higher fuel prices that affect every Australian.

Fuel is an essential necessity for millions of people, particularly those living in regional and rural communities where public transport options are limited. Higher fuel costs also increase the price of transporting goods, contributing to higher grocery prices and the overall cost of living.

A permanent reduction in the fuel excise would provide lasting relief to Australian families and businesses by lowering transport costs, easing inflationary pressures, and improving household budgets.

We therefore urge the Australian Government to permanently reduce the fuel excise from 52.6 cents per litre and implement long-term policies that help keep fuel affordable for all Australians.

By signing this petition, we ask our elected representatives to prioritise practical cost-of-living relief and support Australian households, workers, and businesses.
