Hello Supporters,
We hope you are well. We have decided to adopt two orangutans, Adib (via the Orangutan Foundation) and Mema (via BOSF) using the money given to us by H & M for the role model campaign.
Adib is a five-year-old male orangutan who has been in soft-release in the Lamandau Wildlife Reserve since 2017. As an infant, Adib was kept as a pet in a cage before he was rescued from a town in Central Kalimantan, Indonesian Borneo. At Camp JL, Adib loves to playfight with his fellow campmates and still has to master vital forest skills before he will be ready to be released.
Mema (photo above) was found in a terrible state, as a weak baby weighing only 2.3 kilograms. She is playful and friendly but still rather clingy and needs a bit of time to build her confidence before she can catch up with the others. She makes a wonderful surrogate mothers' assistant, showing others how to climb trees. Being up in the trees can be terrifying to some young orangutans, but not to Mema!
As one of the Orangutans we adopted last year, Okto, has been released into the wild, we decided to adopt some more. So far, we have adopted four orangutans in total: Okto, Mona and Adib (via Orangutan Foundation) and Mema (via BOSF).
If you would like to do the same, please see below for some links (there are many others too):
