PepsiCo: Stop Destroying Our Planet For Cheap Palm Oil

0 have signed. Let’s get to 150,000!

We are sisters Asha and Jia (aged 10 & 12 years old) and we believe that we should stop destroying rainforests just for cheap palm oil.

PepsiCo is a brand we all know and love. It owns some of the most well known brands such as Quaker Oats, Tropicana and Doritos. But, despite PepsiCo's size, it is still making unsustainable decisions. PepsiCo is one of the world's worst palm oil users. Although they have recently made many positive changes to their palm oil policy, consumers still have no idea where their palm oil comes from and whether we can believe that the palm oil is completely sustainable and that no orangutang or children have exploited along the way.

Palm oil is an edible vegetable oil that comes from the fruit of oil palm trees. It is estimated that the area of 300 football fields of rain forest is cleared every hour just for palm oil production. Also, the people who are employed to harvest it are usually working extremely long hours on extremely low wages and the sad truth is that these workers are sometimes children.

We want Pepsi to reduce the amount of palm oil they use. And if it's not possible to completely avoid using palm oil, we want to make sure the palm oil they use is completely sustainable and doesn't cause any rainforest destruction.
