Peoples Review Committee "Duty of Candour" investigating Public Authorities: Public Office (Accountability)

Duty of Candour: Forces public officials and authorities to act with total honesty, transparency, and frankness during inquiries, inquests, and investigations.

New Criminal Offences: Creates criminal charges for public officials or bodies that intentionally or recklessly mislead the public or breach their duty of candour. It also replaces the older, vague common law on misconduct in public office.

Parity of Representation: Provides non-means-tested legal aid for bereaved families. This ensures families have equal legal support and representation at inquests where public bodies are involved.
