Dear Snohomish County Councilmembers:
Developer Ambleside is moving for a waiver/modification to code for a purpose of obtaining a stormwater deviation which would have permanent destructive impacts on the WSDOT property immediately north of the proposed construction site. The WSDOT property address is 12704 25th Ave SE, Everett, WA. Please note the significance of the fact that this WSDOT property was established as a mitigation zone in perpetuity. This mitigation zone was created as a mitigation site for work done on SR-527 circa. 2002. This wooded public land with habitat and wetland sits on 5 undisturbed acres.
Enclosed you will find a report from Bill Lider, Engineer dated 2/16/21 which details the negative and permanent destruction a stormwater deviation will cause.
Please be advised that the proposed denigration of the mitigation zone has gotten widespread community concern and alarm. The WSDOT property is state property and belongs to the people. This alone is sufficient grounds to leave this land untouched. Moreover, private interests for profit should not trump the public’s right to a mitigation zone in perpetuity.
