Dear Yulin Governor Chen Wu, We are writing you and the peoples Republic of China to request the Guanxi Zhuang Autonomous region government, halt and end the "Dog Meat Festival" that is held on June 22, in Yulin, Guangxi, China, during the summer solstice. The festival spans from 9-10 days in which festival goers feast on dog meat. According to anthropologist Pat Shipman," the reason for humanity's evolutionary success may have have been our kinship with domesticated dogs". Hearing and learning more about the "Yulin Dog Meat" festival still exist in a modern and civilized society. We adamantly express our strong opposition to this barbaric festival for the following reasons. First, the " Dog Meat Festival" can potentially cause social instability, aggravate existing social conflicts and sabotage the central governments efforts to build a peaceful society. Time is ticking and the massive killing of dogs is expected to take place year after year so we must get our voices united and raised not just to save the lives but save the hope in humanity - to be part of a compassionate world where we all come together to stand up and speak out for all innocent life, not just the life of humanity.  If we turn away and ignore the cries/pleas of these babies, then we truly have turned away from being human"kind".
