People convicted of crimes against animals often get away with only paying Rs 50 fine- the highest penalty for a first offence under THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS ACT ,1960. 

Dogs are poisoned and beaten , cows have been burned with acid and countless other animals across India are abused everyday. They are enslaved, beaten, and kept in chains to make them perform for humans entertainment; they are mutilated and confined to tiny cages so that people can kill them and eat them; they are burned, blinded and cut up alive in the name of ‘science’; they are electrocuted, strangled,and skinned alive so that people can parade around in their coats; and worse.
