Till date, the treatment of animals (both wild and domesticated/stray) from the human race, in major is questionable many a times and recently, we all have come across several cases of extreme cruelty towards these hapless animals, the killing of the pregnant Kerala elephant using explosive, the Lucknow stray dog buried alive in burning road pitch, the Karnataka burying of thousands of living chicken, the Barasat dog lynching case of West Bengal, and many others.Although there is attempt of animal welfare societies to punish the offenders, but, Ironically, the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals act, 1960 is bailable and is extremely nominal for the offenders/killers of the above stature.Hence, there is an IMMEDIATE REQUIREMENT OF AMMENDMENT OF THE 'PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS ACT', 1960 and the PUBLIC INTEREST LITIGATION (PIL)  FILED  ON 10.08.2020 AND IS CURRENTLY PROCEEDING AT SUPREME COURT (https://images.assettype.com/barandbench/2020-09/8ab40a47-bf47-49e0-bc61-c5c2d07b4e99/SC_Animal_Cruelty_PIL__PCO_vs_UoI__.pdf THAT DEMANDS INCREASED RIGHTS FOR ANIMALS, NEEDS SUPPORT EN MASS, IN ORDER TO FINALLY OBTAIN A STRONG, AMMENDED LAW FOR ANIMAL WELFARE.
